Headteacher’s Welcome Message

Sandylands is a popular two form entry school in the West End of Morecambe.  The school believes in innovative practice that provides children with a stimulating and motivating education.

We have a strong team of 60 staff and everyone works to shared goals enabling the school to strive towards high standards of attainment.  Staff have an optimistic open minded approach and are always willing to try something new, perform, dance and generally enjoy sharing experiences with the children.

We aim to prepare the children for their future giving them independence, resilience and confidence.  Using IT effectively is essential in creating a curriculum that reflects a modern day world.  We also make learning fun!  Our curriculum reflects our aim to give children a wide range of experiences and help prepare them to become global citizen. We have developed a knowledge based curriculum that enables the children to know more and remember more.

High quality teaching in reading, writing and maths underpins all we do.

We are committed to inclusion and take the view that everyone can succeed given the right support.  We use a range of strategies to support behaviour management and we are proud to be a Values Based School.  We always have high expectations of our pupils.

Everyone at Sandylands is a leader.  We work in leadership teams to ensure that good ideas are supported and can happen.  We all see ourselves as learners.  We have excellent professional development opportunities.

The children want to come to school and actively engage in whole school life.  We have a strong community and are well supported by parents.  We use the valuable resources within our community to support learning within the whole curriculum. We encourage prospective parents to look round.
