Community Police Cadets

Our Police cadets have been out and about in the community this week. They visited the local fire station to see how the fire services respond to an emergency.

Borwick Hall

Year 5 had a fantastic visit to Borwick Hall this weekend. On Friday we crammed lots of fun activities in including canoeing, low ropes climbing, an exploration of the grounds, football, rounders and a night time movie. On Saturday we used the centre’s electronic orienteering kit and chose a workshop activity to take part in – creative writing, watercolour painting, sketching the hall, maths crafts and documentary making. What an amazing weekend!

Year 5 had a really interesting visit from The Highway Traffic Officers today. We learnt about road safety and how to stay safe on motorways and busy bypass roads like the Bay Gateway. We topped up our knowledge of the government laws associated with road safety. They showed us the equipment they use to keep themselves and others safe, then we all had a tour of their highway patrol car.

Year 3 travelled to Brockholes Nature Reserve to experience life in the past as a Stone Age person. We made natural shelters, tired to light a fire, visited a stone circle, played a hunting game and painted and designed rocks. Everyone had a fantastic day even if it was a little chilly.

Donations to the local foodbank

A huge thank you to everyone who donated food to the local West end Impact group Foodbank. All of your donations were gratefully received today!

24hrs in Remembrance

Year groups throughout school remembered those who gave their lives in conflict around the world this week. As part of the 100 years since the Battle of the Somme, we were visited recently by a special visitor from the Lancaster museum.

Year 4 have afternoon tea at the famous Midland Hotel

Year 4 had an amazing experience last week when they had afternoon tea at the Midland Hotel. They have been learning about the 1930’s era and the Midland is  the perfect example of the Art Deco period.

It was so lovey to see so many parents come down to support us too – thank you! We were so very proud of each and every one of them – well done you all worked really hard to collect your hours.  Keep filling in those passports and hopefully we will have even more graduates next year.

Trip to the local Pizza Parlour

Year One have been very lucky to experience a trip to a local restaurant this week.

Frankie and Benny’s were brilliant hosts and have allowed us to find out about where some fruit and vegetables come from as well as healthy and unheathy food choices.

Whilst on our visit we designed our own pizzas, created a juice smoothie and ate our delicious pizzas!
