World Book day 2018
What a fantastic day we had during World Book day. Thank you for all your efforts – we spent the day looking at books from our reading spine.
This afternoon all of lower KS2 joined in with the BBC live lesson SUPER MOVERS! It was half an hour session on decimals, fractions and percentages. It was a lot of fun and we even got our school name announced for the whole country to see!
Well done guys!
Remembrance day 2017
As part of our Remembrance day commemorations we created our own version of ‘In Flanders fields’ as a whole school in the style of the BBC / British Legion idea using drones around British landmarks.
Emma and Leah came up with their own way of remembering those who lost their lives.
Today Year 3 travelled to Lancaster University to take part in our follow up to the Pilkington Pottery sessions we had in school. We found out lots about why Pilkington Pottery is a famous national company. We all had the chance to take part in a movement session creating lots of different shapes with our bodies, an art workshop where we used moulds to make clay pots and we had a tour around the engineering building using 3D pens and viewed the products made by 3D printers. We all had a fantastic visit and we were really impressed with the university.
We had a brilliant time with the Houses of Parliament Loan Box. The artefacts were really interesting and some of us had the chance to dress up! We then took part in a class debate and worked in groups to write a bill for a law we felt would improve the school community. What a fantastic experience!!
Children in Need 2016
What an amazing turn out for our Children in Need fundraiser last Friday. Thank you so much for all the parents who came to support and patiently waited for cakes! We raised over £380 for a great cause.
A very special thank you must go to Carys Bushell in Year 6 who raised an extra £271 by taking part in a dance performance.
Meet our new Children’s University graduates – 57 children graduated in the summer up at the Lancaster University.
What a ‘Dahltastic’ time we have had!!
We celebrated 100 years of Roald Dahl this month – how many different characters can you spot? Which well known classic Roald Dahl books do you know?
Visit to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Year 2 had an amazing experience yesterday when they visited the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic to watch a music extravaganza.
24hrs in… Queen Elizabeth
Year 2 were joining in with Queen Elizabeth’s 90th Birthday celebrations this week. They looked at her reign and became Kings and Queens for the day passing rules and taking part in their own tea party.
VE day celebrations!
Year 6 ended their theme on WW2 by planning and taking part in their own ‘Victory in Europe’ party.
The National Sport Relief fund raising effort was a huge success this year! Lots of activities and events organised including cake sales, a step challenge up Mount Everest and a swimathon across Morecambe Bay. There was also a Sport Relief Bake off in the morning. Neve and friends from Year 6 organised and presented their own Sport Relief talent show which was a huge success – so lovely to see so many children taking part with confidence. Well done to everyone involved!
