Hello!

Below is the home learning for those children who are working from home at the moment.

This week, we are launching our Year group Loom videos. An adult at home should have received details of how to access your Loom account. Once you log on  you will be able to watch and listen to your Year group welcome and run through your learning for each day as well as some English and Maths session starters. You can watch the daily videos via the links below. They will be uploaded daily and available from 9.30am each day.

Remember you can call the school office for a paper pack of all the work if you prefer. Complete your work in the Home learning book you were given over lockdown. If you require another one, please don’t hesitate to ask. Send in your work to [email protected]

Learning activities Look at the weather symbols and discuss what they represent (previous learning).

This week we are linking with our Science work on the weather.

To understand the impact of weather on our lives in the context of the weather of the UK.

Key Vocabulary  Weather, the UK, changes, seasons, daily or day to day, weather recording, observation (looking), temperature, weather types (sun, rain, thunder, snow, wind etc).

Learning Activity Look at the photographs of the different types of weather. Discuss what you can and cannot do in these weathers

Which is your favourite weather and why?

How does the weather affect what we wear? Complete the attached activity – sorting the clothes for different weathers in the UK.

 

Art

KKQ / Key Knowledge / Key Skills  How can you use straight and curved lines to draw a familiar object?

To draw carefully in line from observation, recording shapes and positioning all marks/features with some care.

Can hold and use drawing tools such as pencils and crayons using them with some dexterity and control to investigate marks and represent their observation, memories and ideas with purpose/intention.

Learning activity  Think about the lines and shapes that you drew last week. Find a cup with a handle and observe where the curved and straight lines are.  Have a go at drawing the cup. Now repeat using a bottle or something similar with curved and straight lines.

Observe the differences in height, shape and line.

Put a group of the cups and bottles together (2-3) and have a go at drawing the objects. Remember to observe carefully and compare the sizes and shapes compared to each other.

What do some people do because they believe in God?    To consider their experience of a special meal and place.

Key Vocabulary Meal, invitation, experience, special, celebration, dinner, table settings, menu.

Learning Activity  Discuss a time that you have had a special meal at home.
When would this take place? a special occasion?
What is different about this meal? Do you have a tablecloth, candles, special plates etc?

Plan a special meal and decide the most appropriate place to have it.

This can be a practical activity or a draw/write activity.
Write an invitation, inviting your family to the meal.
Design a menu for your special meal.
What food would you eat?

Next week we will look at the Jewish celebration of Shabbat and compare to your own experiences.

Learning Activity  Place objects around the area you are using (such as teddies, toys, cushions or something similar that won’t break)
Use a small ball and stand beside an object of their choice. Aim to send the ball to an adjacent object.
You get one point for every object they hit. Each time they follow the ball to its target and from here to another target.
How many cones can they strike in 1 minute?

TRACKING THE BALL
Roll the ball into a space and follow and collect the ball, repeating several times.
Roll the ball into a space and chase to get in front of the ball to allow it to roll through their legs.
Roll the ball into a space and chase to get in front of the ball to face it and stop the ball. GATEWAY
Rearrange objects so that they are positioned a metre apart to form a gateway.

JOE WICKES IS BACK!
Joe Wickes has announced that he will be back doing 3 live workouts per week. 9am on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

They will be 20 mins long and designed for children. Join in with your family to keep you active.

Workouts start on Monday 11th January.
