Dear Parents/Carers

We are nearly at half term and I thought it was important to update you on the latest information relating to COVID 19.

We are all facing challenging times ahead of us with Lancashire moving to tier 3 and I recognise that not being able to see friends and family can feel very isolating.

I must thank you for all for the consideration you have given to our school.  The everyday norms of seeing you face to face and being able to discuss your children have changed dramatically.  However, I wish to reassure you that we are all still there to support you, even though this will be via remote contact.

Our Family Team have been working hard to ensure that we can meet the needs of our community.  Our inclusion policy still stands firm and we aim to work around any COVID issues whilst still keeping our school community safe.

We are constantly reviewing our risk assessment to reduce cross contamination.  I would like to thank our cleaners for doing such a wonderful job of keeping our school clean and agreeing to the enhanced hours.  Can I please remind you that children should not bring in large bags as cleaning surfaces is really important.

Please could I ask that parents refrain from entering the school building.  If your child is late, please buzz the entrance gate and let your child through by themselves.  A member of staff will be available to greet your child.  This is to help keep everyone safe.  Mrs Garforth is on the yard before and after school to deal with any queries.

To reduce the risk of cross contamination we limit the amount of adults in direct contact with the children.  Obviously this is not always possible if we have to cover absence but the risk is always thoroughly assessed.

If a positive case is reported to the school then the DFE provide advice on the actions that should be taken following Public Health England guidance.  Obviously the reported case could be at anytime.  Please be prepared that children will be asked to be taken home if the information arrives in the morning.

Following this the procedure will be:

  • A letter sent via ParentApp stating how long the child is expected to self isolate
  • In the letter there will be a date your child can return to school
  • Home learning can be accessed via the school website under – curriculum, home learning.  There is a link to individual class pages.
  • The area will receive a deep clean
  • The Family Team/senior management team will be available to support individual families.

Can you please ensure you are connected to ParentApp as vital information will be sent via these means.

School is still a really happy place to be.  We are always looking for ways to ensure that children can fully participate.  They seem to really love the virtual assemblies!  I must applaud our dedicated staff team that continue to provide an environment where children can learn and engage.

We have a full curriciulum offer implemented and Mrs Lupton is currently organising the termly subject topics. More to follow on this.

Thanks so much for your continued support.  I know we can get through this together.

Yours sincerely

Ms A Hickson
