Prahlad and Holika

  • The Story of Prahlad and Holika has been passed down orally and is an example of Smriti writing.
  • Read the story
  • Children to sort the images and sequence the story.
  • Research Hindu stories and the festivals linked with them, eg Holi, Divali

  • Teacher makes signs with parts of the story on and puts them up around the room. Children have to stand by the part they think is most important and explain why, encourage them to refer to Hindu teachings.
  • The message of Holi is that devotion will be rewarded.
  • How can sacred stories tell us?
  • Stories found in Hindu scriptures offer Hindus guidance on how to live their lives.
  • Create story board to show the main events
  • Write about the importance of what the story means and what guidance it gives to Hindus
