Inspirational women week
Wow! What a brilliant week we have had looking at inspirational women across the global. Each year group looked at different women who have impacted on society at a local, national and global level. Year One focussed on Queen Elizabeth II and had their very own Garden party, whilst in other year groups, the Women’s Institute came in to bake with the children.
This week, we have all been talking about Tim Peakes and his space missions!
24hrs in Diwali
Year 2 took part in 24hrs in Diwali this week too! They were learning about the Hindu Festival of light.
Lest we forget – Remembrance day 2015
This week across school, we have been remembering all those that served and are serving in the armed forces. Classes have been taking part in ’24hrs in… Remembrance and poppies’ where they have had the opportunity to learn facts and remember not only our local veterans, but also soldiers across the country and around the world. We were fortunate to receive a visit from a member of the Royal British Legion on Wednesday 11th November who shared memories with our school parliament.
We created a poppy waterfall at the front of school to which every child attached a message of remembrance as well as the local community writing messages to put into our memorial poppy garden.
Send my friend to school 2015
The ‘Send my friend to School’ campaign is going strong! We are finishing off the petition which we hope to take down to parliament with our local MP David Morris.
Mr Morris visited our school earlier this year to work alongside the children – putting a song together about children’s rights around the world.
